Bridge Construction
Bridge Construction
Bridge construction has been the backbone of the Smith-Rowe team since its inception. Russell Smith, one of the two original founders, had extensive experience in bridge construction and was able to supply the necessary knowledge to the team to enable projects to be completed on time, with quality, and under budget.
Russell’s unfortunate passing in 1998 left a hole within the organization quickly filled by able employees who understood the values Russell had instilled in each one and consequently the bridge work continues as if Russell was still with us.
During the past 37 years Smith-Rowe has existed, bridges of all types and sizes have been built: some over highways, some over creeks and rivers, and some ocean/marine work as well. No bridge project is too small or too large for our consideration. Since inception, Smith-Rowe has built over 500 bridges, ranging from small single span cored slab bridges spanning 40’ to steel girder deck bridges containing over 1 million pounds of structural steel over multiple spans with a single span length of 300’. We also specialize in private bridges for individuals with bridge needs on their property as well as developers with retail or industrial sites with bridge needs. We currently employ many experienced bridge foremen scattered all over North Carolina and have over 30 Cranes (ranging from a small rough terrain crane to a 250-ton crawler), more than 90 Excavators, numerous Pile Hammers, and multiple Drill Rigs. Our small core of bridge superintendents has well over 100 years of bridge building experience as a group. We have the personnel, equipment, and know how to tackle any bridge project in the Carolinas and the Southeast.
